Engineering

Evidence before confidence.

RuleOak engineering separates what source proves, what tests prove, what a native/device run proves, what a store or deployment proves, and what remains unknown. The goal is not more process; it is fewer invisible assumptions.

Quality system

How exact source identity, automated qualification, destructive tests, deterministic packaging and evidence boundaries fit together.

Release evidence

Source, test, native, device, distribution and deployment evidence are different layers—not one green badge.

Resilience

Bounded retry, idempotency, recovery, stale-state protection, interruption handling and visible degradation.

Local-first systems

Keep user-owned state and essential guidance usable without unnecessary hosted dependencies.

Privacy by design

Minimize data movement, isolate provider boundaries and keep secrets/public configuration separate.

AI principles

Use AI to accelerate proposals and analysis without turning probabilistic output into silent authority.

Four recurring rules

  1. Bind evidence to exact identity. A result for different source, configuration or decision inputs is not automatically current.
  2. Preserve unknowns. Missing evidence is a state, not a number to average away.
  3. Test failure behavior. Recovery, retry and stale-state paths deserve first-class qualification.
  4. Keep public claims narrower than the evidence. Source, device, store and production deployment are separate authorities.

Failure is part of the design surface.

Timeout, stale state, partial completion and concurrent retry are not edge cases to hide behind generic error handling.
