OakTune 1.0 · by RuleOak
Own the library. Enjoy the listening.
OakTune is a local-first player for music you own. It stays simple for everyday listening, then reveals deeper organization, lyrics and playback tools when you need them.
Start in minutes
Add your music
Allow access to music on your device or import files OakTune can read. Personal HTTPS/WebDAV sources are optional Pro tools, not a requirement.
Press play
Use Library and Playing for the familiar essentials: queue, seek, shuffle, repeat, bookmarks, sleep timer and background controls.
Save what works
Keep an ordinary playlist for track order, or save a Listening Preset when you want the source and playback behavior restored together.
Why OakTune
Local-first listening
Your local library, playlists, playback state and private smart analysis are designed to stay on your device. No RuleOak account is required for local playback.
Lyrics that belong with the song
Use your own edits, same-name LRC files or supported embedded lyrics. Timed lines can follow playback and seek when tapped—without a lyric scraping backend.
Listening Presets
A playlist answers “what songs?” A Listening Preset can also remember how to start: selected songs or another source, order, shuffle, repeat, speed, fade and timer behavior.
Private smart tools
On-device analysis and explainable Smart Playlist previews help organize listening without uploading raw audio or listening history to RuleOak.
Recovery is a feature
Saved sessions, resumable long-form listening, bounded playback recovery and portable metadata backup are designed for real libraries—not just ideal demos.
Power without clutter
Standard mode keeps everyday controls focused. Advanced mode reveals deeper library, audio, source and diagnostic controls without becoming a separate app.
Google Play launch baseline: OakTune v1.0.0 build 100 targets Android API 36 and uses Google Play Billing 9.1.0. Android Free Basic uses restrained visual banners, including a safety-gated Full Player / Now Playing placement. Lifetime Pro is a one-time purchase; optional Supporter Leaves are voluntary consumables; no subscription is sold at launch.
Free Basic and Lifetime Pro
Free Basic is meant to remain a useful music player. On Android it may show restrained visual banners on eligible foreground screens; music is never interrupted by OakTune advertising. Lifetime Pro is an optional one-time store purchase for deeper organization, sources, migration and an ad-free experience—not a subscription. The current iOS tranche remains ad-free.

Optional Supporter Leaves are consumable tips. They unlock no functionality and do not affect recommendations or support priority.
What OakTune deliberately does not do
- It does not provide a commercial streaming catalogue or bundle music with the app.
- It does not require a RuleOak cloud account for local playback.
- It does not scrape lyric websites as a core dependency.
- It does not claim that increasing a file's bitrate or sample rate recreates detail that the source does not contain.
- It does not make paid access dependent on a subscription.
Questions people ask first
Does my music get uploaded to RuleOak?
Local audio and listening history are not uploaded to RuleOak as part of normal local playback. If you configure a personal network source, OakTune connects to the server you specify.
Does OakTune require an account?
No RuleOak account is required for local playback. Store purchases use the account managed by Google Play or Apple.
Is Lifetime Pro a subscription?
No. Lifetime Pro is designed as a one-time non-consumable store purchase for the capabilities listed at purchase.
Where do lyrics come from?
OakTune prioritizes lyrics you save locally, same-name LRC files and supported embedded metadata. It does not depend on a lyric scraping service.
Can I keep using OakTune without Pro?
Yes. Free Basic keeps the core local player useful, including ordinary playlists, lyrics, queues and everyday playback. On Android, eligible foreground screens may show restrained visual banners. OakTune does not pause, duck or replace music with advertising audio.
