OakTune privacy policy

Data handled on your device

The app may access audio files you select or permit it to scan, artwork, local metadata, playlists, queues, favorites, bookmarks, playback progress, settings, locally generated library-health findings and locally cached purchase-entitlement state. This information normally remains in the app sandbox or local database.

Personal sources

When you configure an HTTPS or WebDAV source, the app connects directly to the server you specify. Credentials are stored using platform-protected storage where supported. RuleOak does not proxy the connection. The operator of that server may process connection data under its own policy.

Purchases and stores

Google Play or Apple processes payments. The app receives store product information and verified purchase state needed to unlock Lifetime Pro, restore purchases, acknowledge non-consumables and consume optional Supporter Leaves. The app may store a bounded hash of a purchase token or a transaction identifier for entitlement reconciliation and idempotency; raw purchase tokens are not included in diagnostic exports.

RuleOak website and version-policy requests

The app may request public RuleOak HTTPS pages or a signed version-policy document. Internet infrastructure necessarily receives request metadata such as an IP address, timestamp and user-agent information. OakTune product pages contain no RuleOak advertising or behavioural-analytics code. Hosting and CDN infrastructure may process standard request logs for delivery, reliability, security and abuse prevention.

Support

If you email support, RuleOak receives the information you choose to send. Redacted diagnostic reports are designed to exclude filenames, paths, media metadata, playlist contents, Listening Preset names, Smart Playlist rules, raw tokens and receipts. Support correspondence is retained only as reasonably necessary to resolve the request, maintain security records or meet legal obligations.

Backups and export

Metadata backup and export are user-initiated. Encrypted backup uses the password you supply. Audio files are not placed into RuleOak metadata backups, and store entitlement is never exported or restored.

Advertising and analytics

On Android Free Basic, OakTune can use the pinned RuleOak Ads integration to request restrained visual banner advertising from Google only after the applicable consent and entitlement gates permit it. OakTune does not provide local track titles, artists, albums, playlist names, lyrics, filenames or file paths to RuleOak Ads for ad targeting or advertising analytics. Google and consent infrastructure may process network, device, consent and ad-interaction information under their own policies. Lifetime Pro disables and destroys OakTune-inserted Android banners; the current iOS tranche has no advertising provider. OakTune does not use RuleOak audio ads, interstitials or app-open ads. Commerce and ad measurements exposed by OakTune are privacy-safe aggregate events and durations rather than music-content telemetry.

Deletion and control

You can remove personal sources and offline pins in the app, delete exported files, clear the app's data or uninstall the app. To request deletion of support correspondence, email privacy@ruleoak.com. OakTune does not create a RuleOak account.

Children

OakTune is a general-purpose music player and is not designed as a service directed to children. It does not create RuleOak user accounts or behavioral advertising profiles.
