OakWave policy

Privacy Policy

How OakWave handles local preferences, station connections, Google Play services, purchases and support data.

Privacy profile: no user account, no custom backend and no automatic analytics upload. Advertising remains consent- and policy-gated.

1. Scope

This policy explains how OakWave for Android and iOS handles information. It covers the app and these OakWave web pages. Third-party broadcasters, Google Play and linked websites have their own policies.

2. Information kept on your device

The app stores preferences, Home country, favourites, recent listening history, feedback, playback configuration, optional listening-routine selections, private Radio Passport summary counts, local diagnostics, purchase entitlement continuity and optional appearance choices on the device. Radio Passport may calculate listening time, station, country, genre and language summaries locally. You can clear history, reset feedback or use Delete all local data in Settings.

3. Location

With permission, Android coarse location may be used to infer a country for local-station discovery. Precise location is not requested. The app can instead use the device region or a country you select. The inferred country is used locally and is not sent to RuleOak.

4. Radio and network requests

When you browse or play a station, the app contacts station directories, artwork hosts and broadcaster stream servers. Those services necessarily receive network information such as your IP address and may apply geographic or service restrictions. RuleOak does not operate those third-party services.

5. Google Play services

Google Play Billing processes Lifetime Pro purchases and returns purchase state to the app. Play in-app updates, in-app review and Install Referrer may communicate with Google Play. Install Referrer is read once and immediately reduced on-device to a broad source bucket; raw referrer text, click timestamps and identifiers are not retained or uploaded by RuleOak.

6. Advertising

The maintained Free release uses Google Mobile Ads and Google User Messaging Platform (UMP). The advertising capability does not initialize or request an ad unless a configured ads-capable build, a verified product policy, and the applicable UMP consent state permit it. Google Mobile Ads may process IP address (including general location inferred from it), app/user interactions, diagnostics and performance information, device or advertising identifiers where available, and advertising delivery information for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention. Google and participating advertising partners process this information under their own terms and privacy policies. Free users may see restrained visual banners in Home, Explore, Search-within-Explore, the combined Library/Favourites/History destination and the normal low-risk Settings area and, only when a dedicated layout-safety gate confirms sufficient room, one visually separate anchored adaptive banner below the Full Player. The Full Player banner does not overlay playback controls and is suppressed in background/invisible state, unsafe compact or large-text layouts, purchases, restore, privacy and critical-recovery surfaces. Notification, lock-screen, Android Auto, external Cast/media and background surfaces remain outside the enabled advertising manifest. The app does not use app-open, interstitial, forced rewarded or custom audio ads. Local advertising diagnostics use aggregate placement counters and durations and do not add station content to advertising targeting. Broadcaster-carried advertising inside live station audio is not inserted by RuleOak. Lifetime Pro immediately suppresses provider requests and RuleOak-inserted advertising. Applicable privacy choices can be reopened from Settings.

7. Listening routines and notifications

Optional listening routines are scheduled locally through the operating system. A reminder never starts audio automatically; playback begins only after you tap it. Pending paid reminders are cancelled if the store no longer confirms access and are rescheduled only after access is restored.

8. Diagnostics and support

Diagnostics remain local unless you deliberately export and send a file to support. Exports are designed to omit raw search text, station URLs, purchase tokens and precise location. Email you send to support is processed to respond to your request.

9. Purchases

In the no-backend launch profile, purchase tokens are not sent to RuleOak. The app checks entitlement with Google Play on the device and preserves the last verified Lifetime Pro entitlement during temporary Play service outages.

10. Retention and deletion

Local information remains until you remove it, clear app storage or uninstall. Support correspondence is retained only as reasonably needed to resolve the request, meet legal obligations and protect the service.

11. Children

The app is intended for a general audience aged 18 and over because live third-party broadcasts may contain content outside RuleOak’s control. It is not designed for children.

12. Security

RuleOak uses HTTPS where supported, Android platform protections, bounded diagnostics and store-authoritative purchase checks. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

13. Changes

Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Store declarations will be updated before behavior changes.
